Who I am

The person who accepts your quests.

Lukas

Hi, I'm Lukas — the translator, localizer, and lifelong gamer behind Idiomatic CAT. My languages are German, Englisch and French.
I grew up in a typical German household, and somewhere between finishing every RPG I could get my hands on (for real, they're fire), fishing for my parents in online games and studying language for a living.
While studying, I realized there was a way of combining both of my greatest passions: making games, apps, and – in general – stories hit just the same spot in other languages, as they do in their original one.

What started as fixing clunky fan translations for fun turned into a career built on precision, creativity, flexibilty and love for a good story.

Meet me at Gamescom 2026!

This year again, I'll be attending gamescom Germany from August 26th to 28th!

Passions & Purpose

What drives me — in life and in my work.

My Passions & Hobbies

Outside of work, I'm usually deep into video games (currently: Ghost of Tsushima–yeah I'm a little late), curled up with a fantasy novel, or planning my next language-learning goal (which currently is B1 in Spanish). I'm also passionate about worldbuilding, travelling, anime and writing, and I believe every hobby I love has taught me something that makes me improve in one or another way–not at last important for my job.

I also enjoy cooking, baking, gardening, hand-crafting and learning new things in general. This makes me broaden my horizons, keeps me sane and lets me create a balance between work-life and everyday-life.

My Career Objective

My goal is to built a community of wonderful, creative people as well as become a trusted localization partner for indie studios and publishers likewise, who care about quality over speed — someone who treats every line of dialogue and UI string with the same respect as a novel manuscript.

Long-term, I want to keep growing into consultancy work, helping teams ustefully integrate AI into their translation workflows, and generally build smoother localization and translation workflows from the very start of development.

With a strong bond to my study place, Heidelberg University and its alumni-network, I aim to build a community of friends and trusted localizers and translators that will unlock new markets for you.

And trust me when I say this: I do know how hard and how much work building a video game, app or software is.

Let's l
et me help you at least in some way make your game great!
